The hot side of the menu

Karak with the protein already in it.

Qatar runs on karak. It is the drink people actually stop for, and until now the only way to get one was a counter with somebody standing behind it.

Why it matters here

The drink people actually stop for.

Every gym in Doha has the same problem at the same time of day. Somebody finishes, wants something, and the options are a bottle from a fridge or a drive to a karak stand. One of those is a compromise and the other is a twenty minute round trip.

Putting karak in the machine is not a novelty. It is the drink with the most pull in this market, and making it automatic is the difference between an amenity people use once and one they use on the way out every session.

Karak

Cardamom and black tea, pulled hot with full cream milk powder. Protein optional, double shot if you want it stronger.

Karak Latte

The same base with whey isolate built in as standard, so the protein is not something you notice.

Coffee

Coffee built to order with water or milk, black or creamy, protein optional. Double shot available.

Coffee Latte

Coffee, milk and whey isolate together. Hot it steams, iced it drinks like an iced latte.

Hot or iced

Every hot drink has an iced build. In a Doha summer that is not a garnish, it is the whole order.

Nothing standing

No flask kept warm since morning. The drink is built after the press, in about a minute.

What is in it

Made from what it says it is made from.

The karak is a cardamom and black tea premix with full cream milk powder, not a flavoured syrup. The lattes are built on full cream milk powder rather than a non-dairy whitener. Where protein is included it is whey isolate, dosed by weight rather than scooped.

Every drink on the machine publishes its calories, protein, carbohydrate and fat, calculated from the ingredients' own labels and scaled to the exact gram amounts the machine dispenses. You can read all of it on the menu before you order.

Caffeine. The coffee base carries about 50 mg, and about 80 mg with a double shot. The coffee latte carries about 95 mg, or about 120 mg with a double shot. The karak contains black tea, but its caffeine is not declared by the premix producer, so we do not publish a number for it.

Allergens. Drinks are prepared in shared equipment that handles milk, soy and cereals containing gluten (barley). All drinks may contain these allergens, and no drink can be guaranteed allergen-free. Full per-drink allergen information is published on the menu.

Where it fits

Not only gyms.

A machine that makes karak and coffee to order is useful anywhere people are standing around at hours when nobody wants to staff a counter. Gyms are where we started, because that is who asked first, and the same machine works in an office floor, a clinic waiting room, a padel or sports facility, or a site office.

  • It runs unattended. A counter needs somebody on shift. This needs a socket.
  • It works at the hours a counter cannot. Early morning and late night are exactly when a karak stand is shut.
  • It does not need a kitchen. No plumbing, no drainage, no extraction, no fit-out.
  • The menu is not fixed. If your people want something the machine does not currently pull, say so.

If the format is close but not quite right, we also build to a brief. And if you run a gym, here is the arrangement.

Straight answers

What people ask about the karak.

Is the karak real karak?
It is built from a cardamom and black tea premix with full cream milk powder and water, pulled hot by the machine to order. It is not a syrup and it is not poured from a flask that has been standing.
Can I get karak without protein?
Yes. Karak and coffee are both offered with protein as an option rather than as standard, so the same machine serves somebody who wants a drink and somebody who wants a shake.
How much caffeine is in the coffee?
About 50 mg in the base and about 80 mg with a double shot. The coffee latte carries about 95 mg, or about 120 mg with a double shot.
How much caffeine is in the karak?
It contains black tea, but the caffeine content is not declared by the premix producer, so we do not publish a figure we cannot stand behind.
Can the drinks be iced?
Yes. Every hot drink on the machine has an iced build, and extra ice is an option on top of that.
What are the allergens?
The karak and coffee drinks contain milk and soy. Drinks are prepared in shared equipment handling milk, soy and cereals containing gluten (barley), so no drink can be guaranteed allergen-free.
